At its Ossig facility Partzsch Spezialdrähte GmbH produces around seven thousand tonnes of copper flat wire for generators, transformers, and electric motors. In 2021 the company partnered with LOGSOL to digitize material and information flows replacing paper-based control in production and logistics. The project aimed for transparent inventory levels, real-time data visibility, and efficient operational management. Within months, process analysis, a roadmap, and initial deployment were executed, delivering digital framework.

Partzsch Spezialdrähte GmbH digitizes core processes for enhanced efficiency

Partzsch Spezialdrähte GmbH, located in Ossig, produces around seven thousand tons of copper and flat copper wires annually for its internal group and customers in the electrical industry. Until 2021, all workflows from goods receipt through production to goods issue relied on paper-based control. To significantly improve information flow, inventory transparency, and operational efficiency in both production and logistics, the company decided to digitally transform its comprehensive core business processes.

Partzsch engages LOGSOL for production and logistics process analysis

Starting in 2021, Partzsch engaged LOGSOL to lead an assessment of its material and information flows. From May to July, the team conducted a comprehensive analysis of existing processes, covering goods receipt, intermediate storage, production stages, value-adding treatments, finished goods warehousing, dispatch operations, and administrative workflows. They documented and visualized core processes, evaluated the performance of the IT infrastructure, identified system gaps, and calculated digital maturity levels to guide design.

LOGSOL and Partzsch conduct detailed potential analysis for digitization

Following assessments, LOGSOL planners partnered with Partzsch to conduct a systematic potential analysis aimed at identifying the most impactful digitalization strategies. The team catalogued measures spanning data integration, workflow automation, and inventory tracking, evaluating each by projected benefits and implementation complexity. Deliverables included clustering of options according to cost-effectiveness and feasibility. Finally, they developed a prioritized roadmap to enforce a phased deployment plan, ensuring continuous progress and controlled resource allocation.

Three-week As-is Capture Creates Process Tree for Copper Production

Over a three-week period, LOGSOL conducted an extensive on-site survey, led by Andreas Zorn, commercial operations manager at Partzsch. Every stage of the copper production process was documented and translated into a comprehensive process tree. The intricacies of copper wire manufacturing for generators, transformers, and electric motors were new to the team and underwent thorough technical scrutiny. Ten pragmatic work packages were defined to address dependencies and estimate implementation efforts.

April 2022 Implementation Launches Four Packages, Targeting Integration 2023

In April 2022, implementation commenced with four initial work packages designed to optimize manufacturing processes. Senior Logistics Planner Carsten Gutmann from LOGSOL emphasized the teams shared commitment to not only designing concepts but executing them immediately. The project aims to integrate all manufacturing areas by the end of 2023. Clear communication and synchronized coordination among management, production, and logistics departments ensure that everyone works toward a unified objective, fostering transparency.

Digitalization Enables Real-Time Demand And Inventory Planning With Precision

Digitalization delivers real-time data for demand and inventory planning, enabling precise ordering amid fluctuating energy and copper prices. With copper at about 9 euros per kilogram and annual production roughly 7,000 tons, even modest inventory reductions translate into substantial savings. These insights drive significant economic efficiency and operational flexibility by providing instantaneous performance metrics. Such agility proves vital for preserving competitive market positions while fostering scalability and expansion amid volatility.

Success Prompts Partzsch Electromotoren to Launch Digital Optimization Project

Following the success at Partzsch Spezialdrähte GmbH, Partzsch Elektromotoren GmbH is evaluating its own digital transformation with LOGSOL. This initiative will leverage expertise in real-time material tracking, seamless data integration and workflow automation established during the pilot. By applying proven methodologies to their production and logistics operations, the medium-sized enterprise aims to optimize process efficiency, reduce lead times and strengthen competitiveness across the entire value chain and deliver measurable cost savings.

Partzsch and LOGSOL collaborate for transparent, efficient logistics control

Through the collaborative engagement between Partzsch Spezialdrähte GmbH and LOGSOL, a transparent, efficient management framework for production and logistics operations has been established. Leveraging real-time data streams enables precise inventory planning, lowers storage costs, and enhances overall profitability despite the volatility of copper market prices. The implementation follows a prioritized roadmap and pragmatic work packages, ensuring structured execution, predictable progression, and long-term sustainability. This initiative sets a benchmark for digitalization.
