Pfeifer und Seibel GmbH is further upgrading its electronics manufacturing in the areas of digital technologies and business models. The manufacturer of lighting and electronics solutions relies on interdisciplinary cooperation and has joined the Smart Electronic Factory e.V. (SEF). Together with association members, Pfeifer und Seibel GmbH is developing new digital solutions for its own electronics factory and for medium-sized companies.

Service portfolio grows and becomes more digital

Andor Prohaszka, Managing Director of Pfeifer und Seibel GmbH, explains, “Our electronics production is currently growing continuously. In the spirit of lean management and in order to be able to offer our customers new services, we will expand our service portfolio from development to manufacturing and make it more digital.”

The portfolio of the expert for lighting and electronics solutions includes the development and production of technical luminaires for workplaces in industry as well as machines and special luminaires for industrial applications. It also includes customer-specific OEM solutions.

Exchange of experience with the SEF as a driver of digitalization

In recent years, Pfeifer and Seibel has invested heavily in its own electronics manufacturing and development department. The exchange of experience with the members of the SEF is intended to accelerate the increase in the degree of digitization for internal processes and products.

“For example, cooperating and easy-to-set-up robots, so-called cobots, represent a fast and cost-effective solution to increase flexibility, quality and efficiency in production. We can learn here from members from the SEF Smart Electronic Factory e.V. who have already developed use cases for this. The goal is to use a cobot in flexible manufacturing structures for small to medium-sized batches,” says Prohaszka.

Use cases for the modernization and digitization of quality inspection steps are currently being planned. Pfeifer and Seibel also sees great potential for achieving rapid digitization effects in the use of the acquired and existing data to automate process steps and improve quality.

Pfeifer and Seibel benefits from SEF

By becoming a member of SEF Smart Electronic Factory e.V., the company can benefit from the domain knowledge of various specialists. Solutions can also be developed jointly in this way. The aim of the association is to jointly pave the way for digitization for industrial SMEs.

It is a 4.0 initiative of research institutions and well-known companies. New application scenarios and solutions in the field of Industry 4.0 are tested and shaped in real terms. In this way, future technologies grow that are oriented to actual benefits and needs.
