Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society has awarded the Deutschlandstipendium to 35 students. Each recipient receives EUR 300 per month for one year. Funding is shared equally between federal resources and private sponsors. Students at HWG LU may apply for the funding period beginning in April 2027 through university’s application process.

University Honors 35 Scholarship Recipients Selected From 154 Applicants

On 14 October 2025, University President Professor Gunther Piller presented certificates to 35 selected recipients of the Deutschlandstipendium at HWG LU. The selection followed an application process involving 154 students. Awards recognized exceptional academic performance and voluntary community involvement. Each scholarship is granted for one year and provides 300 euros per month. The program therefore combines merit-based support with recognition of social commitment, offering recipients direct assistance during their studies.

Scholarship Gives Students Financial Freedom and More Study Time

According to Professor Gunther Piller, the Deutschlandstipendium gives selected students additional financial security and more flexibility in managing their time. The monthly support can reduce pressure from living and study-related expenses, allowing recipients to structure daily academic tasks more effectively. Students may therefore devote greater attention to coursework, examinations, and personal development. The grant is awarded regardless of income and remains available alongside BAföG funding without reducing eligibility for all recipients.

Scholarship Program Combines Public Funding With Private Donor Support

The Deutschlandstipendium has combined public funding and civic commitment since the 2011 summer semester. Each recipient receives 300 euros per month. The federal government contributes 150 euros, while private foundations, companies, and other sponsors provide the matching 150 euros. Awards are granted for an initial period of at least two semesters. Continued support is possible, but it cannot extend beyond the standard period of study defined for the degree program.

Scholarship Recognizes Academic Excellence, Responsibility, Engagement, and Personal Development

The funding program is aimed at students and prospective students whose educational record indicates the potential for exceptional achievement in academic and professional contexts. Selection considers more than grades and examination results. It also assesses a candidates willingness to assume responsibility and his ability to overcome personal difficulties affecting his life or education. The Deutschlandstipendium therefore recognizes academic performance alongside commitment, resilience, individual progress, and demonstrated capacity for future development.

Private Donors and Organizations Fund Scholarships at HWG LU

The sponsorship network for the Deutschlandstipendium at HWG LU includes companies, foundations, university associations, and individual donors. Private sponsors complement this broad regional commitment to student success at the institution locally.

New Campus Building Hosts Inaugural Scholarship Certificate Presentation Ceremony

The certificate ceremony was held for the first time in the universitys new building. The cafeteria in the newly constructed dining hall provided the setting for the event, supported by catering from the Student Services organization. Musical accompaniment was supplied by Farrukh Sobirov. Sponsors, relatives, and friends attended the presentation and accompanied the scholarship recipients as they received their certificates in an official yet welcoming atmosphere at the university campus.
