The acquisition will bring design and test workflows into the digital era and meet the demands of the next generation of electronic product development cycles. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and strategies, companies can increase efficiency and productivity to bring innovative products to market faster and position themselves as frontrunners in the ever-evolving technology landscape.

Cliosoft becomes part of Keysight Technologies and brings innovative software tools for hardware design data and IP management to the EDA portfolio

Keysight Technologies has expanded its range of EDA solutions through the acquisition of Cliosoft and will now also include its product line of software tools for managing hardware design data and intellectual property (IP) in its portfolio. With this strategic acquisition, Keysight opens up new perspectives to offer its customers comprehensive design data and IP management solutions and further expand its position as a leading provider of electronic design solutions.

Since its inception, Cliosoft has specialised in design data management, including functional IP blocks for integrated circuits. Cliosoft’s unique products extend Keysight’s EDA software offering with comprehensive process and data management (PDM) capabilities used by more than 400 global customers in the semiconductor and electronics industries. Cliosoft is known for its innovative approach to design data management and has established itself as a leader in the field.

Keysight expands its EDA business with the acquisition of Cliosoft and strengthens its portfolio of intelligent automation solutions. The integration of PDM as an essential component enables Keysight’s customers to seamlessly link design and test data and create a closer connection between the two areas. This helps to optimise workflows and increase productivity.

Keysight and Cliosoft are long-standing partners and work closely together. One of the most successful integrations is the Cliosoft SOS data management platform, which is already integrated with Keysight’s Advanced Design System (ADS) solution. Many joint customers use this integrated solution, which provides them with revision control and data and IP management. In addition, Keysight and Cliosoft continue to provide solutions for these needs through their partners in the EDA industry, including Cadence, Empyrean, MathWorks, Siemens EDA, Silvaco and Synopsys.

Keysight and Cliosoft agree that PDM is critical to the success of customer designs in global development organisations. The increasing complexity of designs and the growing volume of IP blocks and data require development teams to manage them effectively and efficiently. Industry trends such as heterogeneous integration, advanced packaging and ‘follow-the-sun’ research and development around the clock are driving customers to take their productivity to the next level.

Keysight EDA aims to accelerate its customers’ digital transformation by creating digital, connected workflows from design to test, as Niels Faché, vice president and general manager of Keysight EDA, points out. The integration of Cliosoft’s PDM solutions into Keysight EDA’s portfolio is an important step in this direction and a natural evolution of the company’s open EDA interoperability strategy. Cliosoft’s proven software tools enable product teams to perform data analysis and reduce time to insight, leading to improved productivity in the verification phase and shorter development cycles.

As CEO of Cliosoft, Srinath Anantharaman recognises the major challenges of exponential growth in design data and IP reuse at a time when “More than Moore’s Law” is becoming a reality. Keysight, as a leader in 5G and 6G communications, automotive, and aerospace and defence, is uniquely positioned to enable the connection of design, emulation and test data in efficient workflows and reduce time to market. Cliosoft looks forward to working with Keysight to help customers optimise their development processes and successfully meet the challenges of digital transformation.
