Quectel Wireless Solutions is launching the SG560D. This is an intelligent Android module that integrates 5G New Radio (NR) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

Powerful module for the AIoT

The module from the global IoT solutions provider is equipped with a powerful CPU and GPu to meet complex application scenarios. These require both high data rates and a lot of computing power. The application scenarios include infotainment in vehicles, industrial devices, smart gateways, industrial cameras and surveillance devices.

Computing power is becoming increasingly important in the era of the artificial internet of things (AIoT). To make devices smarter and faster, the SG560D 5G module combines 5G and AI technologies, significantly improving performance in data consumption and device communication. SG560D thus represents the best option for edge computing requirements. It also accelerates the digital transformation of devices in many industries.

Quectel Wireless Solutions with best-in-class computing performance

Quectel Wireless Solutions’ SG560D is based on the Qualcomm QCM6490 chipset. It is a 5G sub-6GHz smart module equipped with a Qualcomm® Kryo™ 670 CPU, based on Arm v8 Cortex technology, and a Qualcomm® Adreno™ 642L GPU. Thus, the SG560D for AIoT has excellent computing power that grants fast and efficient data processing. The module’s computing performance was tested in various tests. Here, it was found that the SG560D module can achieve a computing power of up to 14 trillion operations per second (TOPS).

The module from Quectel Wireless Solutions has an embedded Android 12 operating system, which also allows upgrades to future Android versions 13, 14 and 15. In addition, the SG560D module has a standard onboard memory of 4GB LPDDR4X + 64GB UFS. Several memory configurations are possible here. Several regional variants, including SG560D-EU for EMEA, SG560D-NA for North America, SG560D-CN for China and SG560D-WF, ensure use in many regions of the world. The module is particularly durable and available until 2028.

The SG560D can support displays with a maximum resolution of 2520×1080 and a refresh rate of 144 Hz through the MIPI-DSI interface. Quectel’s module offers video performance of 4K@30fps video encoding, 4K@60fps video decoding, and a maximum of five camera groups. It also features 5G standalone (SA) as well as non-standalone (NSA) network architectures. Also, the module supports 4 × 4 MIMO in the downlink and 2 × 2 MIMO in the uplink and is backward compatible with global LTE/WCDMA networks.

SG560D receives signals from up to seven constellations

In addition to cellular communications, the SG560D from Quectel Wireless Solutions supports Wi-Fi 6E bands 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz, dual-band simultaneous (DBS), Wi-Fi 2×2 MU-MIMO and Bluetooth 5.2, which significantly improves network coverage and transmission rates in various application scenarios. The module also features a multi-constellation GNSS receiver. This allows it to receive signals from up to seven constellations (GPS/GLONASS/BDS/NavIC/Galileo/QZSS/SBAS) simultaneously. The combination of GNSS signals from two frequency bands (L1/L5) ensures fast and highly accurate positioning, even under difficult conditions. OEM developers can be flexible through various peripheral interfaces such as dual USB, multiple PCIe and UART, I2S and SPI interfaces.

Quectel Wireless Solutions: More flexibility for many AIoT applications.

With various peripheral interfaces such as dual USB, multiple PCIe and UART, I2S and SPI interfaces, the SG560D module from Quectel Wireless Solutions offers OEM developers flexibility and easy integration into a wide range of AIoT applications. For example, video conferencing systems, live streaming devices, gaming, edge computing, robotics, drones, AR/VR and smart retail. In addition, Quectel offers a many standard and customized high performance antennas. These enable significantly improved wireless connectivity.
