Decentralized data acquisition and monitoring thanks to ADAM-6000 and ADAM-6200

What do ADAM-6000 and ADAM-6200 have in common? The answer: they are both Ethernet remote IoT edge modules designed for decentralized data acquisition as well as monitoring. They use built-in protocols and the latest Internet technologies to remotely monitor device status. Measurements, controls and automations on machines and plants become controllable via peer-to-peer as well as Graphic Condition Logic functions.

The aforementioned modules from Advantech act as stand-alone edge to IoT products. They represent a simple and cost-effective option for companies that want to collect and monitor data in a decentralized manner. This decentralized collection and control of data allows for greater independence, as well as enabling work to be performed more efficiently and cost-effectively.

Key features of ADAM-6000 and ADAM-6200 include peer-to-peer connectivity, communication with various IoT protocols, and graphical conditional logic. A wide operating temperature range and daisy-chain networking are also provided.

Easy integration possible

Like the WISE-4000/LAN series, the ADAM series modules can be easily integrated into existing networks. The only prerequisite for this is the use of the latest Internet technologies, which support the Modbus/TCP protocol at least as far as possible. The new module versions “D” and “B” also support the other protocols SNPT and MQTT, which are important for communication. Measurement, control and automation thus become much easier and more powerful.

The daisy chain network is important for building networks that are to be designed from module to module. To enable simple logic circuits, the other key functions of the modules are important.

Successor will be ADAM-6300, thus Modbus/TCP and OPC UA will be supported. Overall, it can already be stated at this point that the ADAM-6000 series with the Ethernet modules is one of the most widely used series. Measurement, control and automation will not be able to do without these modules in the future. However, despite the current high-performance capability, Advantech still sees room for improvement, which is already evident in the outlook for new series.
