The shortage of skilled professionals in the STEM field poses an urgent problem for the advancing digitalization in the automation industry. In order to counteract this, ITQ GmbH presents not only solutions for development processes in automation at this year’s SPS from November 14-16, 2023, but also innovative training approaches that support companies in recruiting STEM professionals. As a competent partner for software and systems engineering, ITQ GmbH aims to interconnect existing educational approaches and drive the digitalization in the automation industry.

Outdated German education system lacks motivation and sensibilization in MINT subjects

The German education system has long been criticized as outdated and fragmented due to its federal structure. This is particularly evident in the field of computer science and STEM education, where there is a lack of awareness and motivation. As a result, young students lack interest and motivation to pursue future studies and careers in the automation industry. The ITQ GmbH aims to address this issue through innovative educational projects and widespread networking.

ITQ GmbH showcases innovative educational approaches for all ages

At the SPS trade fair, the ITQ GmbH showcases their unique educational approaches, which demonstrate how programming can be learned at any age using small technical “toys.” Visitors can learn about a mechanical cleaning robot kit or simple technical toys with Raspberry Pi Pico microcontrollers and introductory programming in Python at the Bayern Innovativ joint stand. This playful approach captivates both young and adult visitors. Additionally, they present a digital petting zoo 4.0 based on LEGO Mindstorms, hydrogen-powered cars for experimentation, and virtual reality applications.

Efficient Method: ‘Coach the Coach’ Empowers Tech Coaches

The ‘Coach the Coach’ method provides a highly efficient approach to extracurricular education by training young engineers, students, and apprentices to become technology coaches who share their knowledge in workshops with young students. This combination of learning and teaching, where participants are both supported and challenged, has proven to be exceptionally effective. Dr. Rainer Stetter, CEO of ITQ GmbH, emphasizes the effectiveness of this method.

MAKEATHON: An Innovative Platform for Recruiting Future Talents

The MAKEATHON innovation festivals provide a unique opportunity to attract young talent. During the SMART GREEN ISLAND MAKEATHON 2023, more than 600 international students and industry representatives collaborated for four days on Gran Canaria to develop technical prototypes. In addition to its educational approach, the MAKEATHON serves as an innovative recruiting platform for both participants and companies, fostering connections and potential future collaborations.
